DIY Store Warehouse Picking Area Stock Count
An international DIY retail store chain that serves over 28 million customers with 138,000 products, required the support of RGIS. To date it has 51 retail stores distributed throughout Italy, with approximately 8,500 employees and a turnover of over 1.5 billion euros.
REQUIREMENTS
The DIY store chain needed a solution to count the picking area of the main Italian warehouse. Having worked together previously for store counts, they approached RGIS to provide the following:
- Warehouse picking area to be counted and completed within two weeks
- Count to be made using the customer’s own equipment
- All picking areas in the 11 buildings in the warehouse to be counted
SOLUTION
The DIY store chain partnered with RGIS to complete the warehouse picking area stock count project, and RGIS provided the following:
- Scheduled an RGIS Area Manager with a team of nine experienced RGIS auditors, the same team for the whole count duration
- RGIS teams were trained on the customer’s scanning equipment
- The customer was able to use the internal employees to focus on warehouse rotation, so as not to make inventory operations difficult to complete, freezing movement of stock one building per day to allow RGIS to complete the counts
- Teams counted all picking areas in 11 warehouse buildings
RESULTS
The DIY store chain found by outsourcing the warehouse picking area stock count project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:
- All picking areas in the 11 buildings in the warehouse were accurately counted, consisting of 12,000 pallet locations
- Stock on hand data was updated instantly as RGIS teams used the customer’s own scanning equipment
- As RGIS was completing the stock count, this allowed the customer to complete discrepancy checks on a daily basis due to the live data from using the customer’s devices, so that saved a huge amount of time
