Agricultural Machinery Manufacturer Factory and DC Stock Audit

A global leader focused on the development, manufacture and distribution of agricultural equipment, required the support of RGIS. Through recognized brands the manufacturer provides agricultural solutions for farmers worldwide. The company designs, produces and sells tractors, combines, foragers, hay tools, self-propelled sprayers, smart farming technologies, seeding equipment, and tillage equipment, as well as spare parts.

REQUIREMENTS
The agricultural machinery manufacturer were having issues locating components and parts within the warehouse that were on the system, and that in turn was holding up the distribution line of completing the manufacture of tractors and machinery for customers.

The manufacturer needed a company with good technical knowledge and experience to carry out an inventory of parts in the factory and two distribution centers in Brazil, so required RGIS to provide the following:

  • Complete a count of all parts in the factory and two distribution center warehouses
  • Identify variances to expected stock levels
  • Update stock on hand levels for all stock parts
  • Determine and update physical location of all items

SOLUTION
The agricultural machinery manufacturer partnered with RGIS to complete the agricultural parts stock count project, and RGIS provided the following:

  • RGIS team visited the factory and distribution centers and presented a very detailed plan of how the warehouse and factory stock management process could be improved
  • Scheduled a team of over 160 experienced RGIS auditors to count the warehouse
  • Teams counted and located all stock items across the factory and distribution centers, including locating items with non-standard packaging and out of stock items
  • An accurate database was created to identify each item and the location in the warehouse

RESULTS
The agricultural machinery manufacturer found by outsourcing the agricultural parts stock count project to RGIS, the following results were achieved:

  • RGIS teams accurately counted over 28,000 pallets, 371,000 SKUs and over 32,000,000 pieces
  • 100% of items in stock were counted and locations identified
  • A bespoke dashboard was created for the customer by RGIS
  • The customer was able to release 400 tractors that were held in the yard due to lack of components
  • With up-to-date data on the system there was a 5% reduction in assembly line downtime due to lack of parts
  • Accurate stock on hand levels meant a 99% reduction in unnecessary purchases
